Queen performed as part of the Concerts For The
People Of Kampuchea (Cambodia), which were performed over a few days
at the Hammersmith Odeon in London. Other performers included The
Who (who played for three hours), Wings, The Pretenders, Elvis
Costello & The Attractions, The Clash, and the members of Led
Zeppelin (minus Jimmy Page). A 2-LP set was released in 1981,
including Now I'm Here from Queen's set. -queenlive.ca

SATURDAY,
May 23, 2009
This would be the straw that broke the
camel's back for me...
After Adam Lambert’s killer performance withQueenon
Wednesday night’s season finale of American Idol, rumors flew
that he had already been offered a job singing with the band.
That’s slightly premature, according to the band’s guitarist,Brian
May.
“Amongst all that furor, there wasn’t really a quiet
moment to talk,”May
tells Rolling Stone in an e-mail interview.“But
[drummer Roger Taylor] and I are definitely hoping to have a
meaningful conversation with him at some point. It’s not like
we, as Queen, would rush into coalescing with another singer
just like that. It isn’t that easy. But I’d certainly like to
work with Adam. That is one amazing instrument he has there.”
Just wanted to share something other than Queen
stuff. A picture of me and my dogs. Killian (left) and Scout
(right). Killian is an American Pit Bull Terrier and Scout is an
American Pit Bull Terrier/German Sheppard mix.
Last night, I received a text message from a
buddy of mine telling me that Brian and Roger just performed on
American Idol with the finalists. My first reaction was "oh,
cool", but after watching a clip of the performance, all I can
do is shake my head. Now, I'm totally 100% OK with the Queen and
Paul Rodgers split, but if Brian and Roger are going to continue
with these stupid one-off appearances/side projects, then I'll
be pretty disappointed. What's next, another Pepsi commercial
with Britney Spears and Pink?? Please just work on your solo
stuff, or better yet get crackin' on those box sets! Yeah
right...
UPDATE: Didn't Brian say after the last
American Idol fiasco that he would never do anything like that
again?? Money talks huh Brian? I'm so damn disappointed.
My first video blog for gr8kingrat.com. The audio
quality isn't all that great for my first video, but hopefully I
can record a better blog the next time around.
VH1 Classic Radio is reporting that Paul Rodgers
is done with Queen. This really shouldn't be much of a surprise
to anyone, as rumors were flying during the last tour that
things weren't going well with Brian, Roger and Paul. Even if
those rumors are not true, Paul has recently reunited with
members of Bad Company and will start a small tour next month.
So I'm sure he'll want to focus on that. Now I just hope that
Brian and Roger will focus on releasing some more concerts on
DVD and CD. And what about the box sets??
Looks like Volume 2 of the Singles Collection will be released
on June 15th. This set will cover singles from 1979 to 1984...13
singles in all. Didn't Brian say in his soap box that these sets
would also be released on vinyl??
This collection highlights one of the most adventurous
periods in Queen’s history which saw the band constantly
reaching out into new territory, both as studio musicians and
live performers. Considering the band was seldom away from
touring it is remarkable they were able to achieve such an
output of new recorded work. In the five year period these
singles cover the band toured Europe three times, Japan three
times, the USA twice and even managed
to break open the Latin America countries with a series of logic
and – some would say – sense-defying stadium concerts which
Queen would later return to for the 1985 historic Rock in Rio
concerts. -from queenonline.com
These are all over eBay at the moment...some
going for crazy amounts of money. It's a nice reissue, but it
would have been nice to see this issued in a card sleeve instead
of a jewel case.
This seems to be a reoccurring complaint. I can't
believe the "artwork" (for lack of a better word) of the CD give
away in the UK this weekend. What a piss poor job. Incredible.
Please contact me if interested. Vinyl is in EX condition,
sleeve in VG condition.
Payments with Paypal only. Check my feedback on eBay:

Queen Collector's Trade Post
& Picture Galleries
Up next for gr8kingrat.com will be a Queen
Collectors Trading Post. This will be a place where collectors
can post what queen records they're looking for as well as
posting pictures and info of what they have for trade. I'm not
sure when I'll have this completed, but of course I'll keep you
updated.
I would also like to set up a page on gr8kingrat.com where
collectors can show off their own record collections and upload
pictures to their own gallery on gr8kingrat.com. More to come...
To help commemorate Record Store Day, Hollywood
Records will be releasing Queen's First EP on CD.
Releasing a CD for Record Store
Day? Come on!
Why they don't release this on vinyl is beyond
me. Anyway...these CDs are
limited to 3000 with each being individually numbered and are only made available to independent record stores in the
United States. Click
here for more details
including other releases and participating record stores.
I have completed the Singles section of the price
guide. Please look it over and send your feedback to
webmaster. Once again I'd like to thank all of those who
helped me along the way.

Gr8Kingrat.com update
I've updated the site...again. Hopefully I'll be
satisfied with this design for a while! Work on the price guide
continues. I'm done with everything thru the A Kind of Magic
singles. I hope to be done with The Miracle and Innuendo next
week.
So I've decided to publish what I
have so far with the singles section of the price guide. I
completed everything up to Under Pressure. I have 28 more
singles to go before I'm finished. I doubt I'll have this done
before mid-March like I was hoping too. Anyway, take a look and
let me know what you think. Please email me or post below with any concerns or
questions. Thanks!

I'm about half way thru the
singles price guide at the moment. I hope to have it completed
by mid March. I really want to get this done before the baseball
season starts! I tend not to update my site very much during the
Spring/Summer months, so I want to get this out there as soon as
possible.
Frequent visitors have probably
noticed that I change my site banner and over all layout quite
often. Recently, I changed it to a Metropolis theme. Well, due
to copyright issues I have to remove the Metropolis images. So
I'm back to the News of the World robot banner.

Queen Record Price Guide Update
I just wanted
to give a quick update on work on the Queen Record Price Guide.
Its coming along..slowly but surely. So far I'm about half way
through the Queen LPs. Next are the singles, other compilation
albums, then box sets. I'm not sure if I'll put together a CD or
video price guide yet..
Thanks to everyone that has helped
and sent feedback!
Queen Record Price Guide and The Miracle unreleased sleeve
gallery
A few weeks ago
I posted that I was looking to add something to my site that
would make it unique and possibly attract move visitors. Well,
thanks to the ideas of my fellow collectors, I think I've
decided on what I want to do. I'm hoping to start a Queen
Record Price Guide..sort of what Ron had with "Gimme the
Price" section of queenpicturehall.com. This project will take a
long time as I have to gather all the information before
creating it. So don't expect it to be up tomorrow.
I'll be looking to you (you know who you are) for a little help
as well. :)
Also, I've created the gallery for The Miracle unreleased
pictures sleeve. That can be found in the featured items
section.
Just wanted to
say thank you for all the emails and messages of support about
my site. I've decided to keep gr8kingrat.com open for the time
being. At least until October when the domain name is up for
renewal. Then we'll see where we stand.
I've been
thinking about ways to make this site unique from other Queen
sites and received great ideas from some of you! Thanks!
I also want to take the
opportunity to thank all of those that have submitted Queen
sites to be added to my queen sites menu. One thing though..if
the site you're submitting has more ad banners and pop ups than
Queen content and hasn't been updated since 1995 then chances are I will not be adding it to the menu.
Sorry..
Also, I want to thank Claudio of Claus
Queen Collection for letting me use some of his 45
scans. My scanner doesn't always want to cooperate...

Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert passes
I've added a few backstage passes
from the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert in the tour items
gallery. The only problem is that I'm wondering if the passes I
have are the real thing or not. I don't know..there is something
about them that doesn't seem right. While looking at the back of
the passes it looks as if these were meant to be peal and stick,
but they're laminated instead. If anyone has some info, please
contact me. Thanks!

Good-bye gr8kingrat.com?
I've thought about
shutting down my website recently. I just don't see any reason
to keep it going to be honest. On a good day I'll get about
30-40 visitors..that's about it. And, I don't really have
anything to offer besides sharing pictures of my collection and
sharing a Queen gig every once in a while. We have queenzone.com
for that anyway...
Anyway, I'll keep thinking about
it. I've enjoyed working on this site though, and I'll miss the
interaction with other fans. More to come...

Queen Reign Supreme Once Again
Thirteen
years after their last album, and 17 years after the death of
incomparable front man Freddie Mercury, Queen are looking, once
again, like champions of the world. With a new singer — Paul
Rodgers, formerly of Bad Company and Free — a new album and a
monumental tour covering 20 countries in 11 weeks, the band with
the bestselling album in the history of the U.K. is making a
dramatic return to the spotlight...
This might be the first sign of the apocalypse. Rolling Stone magazine

This month’s Classic Rock (June
2008, Issue 119, Velvet Revolver Cover) runs with a 3 page piece that
includes an interview with Roger, Brian and Paul Rodgers.
Starting on Page 50 the guys openly
discuss new tracks including ‘C-lebrity’, ‘Say It’s Not True’, ‘Call
Me’, ‘We Believe’, ‘Whole House Rocking’ and the inclusion of a cover
version on the new album.
QOL
can now EXCLUSIVELY reveal that the cover is in fact ‘Runaway’,
originally a hit for Del Shannon and that it WILLNOT now feature on the album, but will be used
at some point as part of the new album promotion.
Other points covered
included where the album was recorded, using the Queen name, John
Deacon’s involvement, the loss of Freddie, the new tour and that ‘this
is probably the most rocking album Queen has made so far…there are also
some beautiful, laid back moments.’

fans of these artists to vote. Please don't waste your time...in the end

Rogers- new album and tour
“We’ve been in the
studio, we have tracks recorded and we will be doing the final mixing
next month for a summer release and touring in September in Europe which
may extend worldwide.” -paul rodgers
WAOR 95.3 in the US is reporting
that Queen and Paul Rodgers will be back in London to continue work on the new
Queen album. Paul says "We got all the basic tracks down - we're got some 13 to
14 tracks down, and we may even put more. It's that open." Paul is also quoted
as saying the album will be released this summer followed by a tour in
September.

New Domain name?
I've been thinking about changing my domain name
to something else.
The problem I'm having is that I don't know what I should call it. I know
I want to have "queen" as part of the name, but can't think of anything
to go along with it that will represent what my site is all about.
Any ideas? email me.
